Omega-3, Omega-6, Omega-9, Vitamin E and, Carotenoids. Batana (Ojon) Oil comes to us from the Tawira natives of Honduras meaning "People of beautiful hair".
An almost cream like consistency, the fruit of the American palm tree (Elaeis oleifera) forms across 10-20 bunches per year and is hand picked, boiled, hand shelled and then the nuts inside the fruit are sun-dried, cracked and then the kernels are released and cold pressed to extract the oil. The oil once cooled resembles a thick pumpkin like cream or paste with a rich, nutty aroma.
You can obtain a refined Batana oil in liquid state however the virgin cold pressed oil retains a larger percentage of bio-actives that benefit hair and skin care.
Batana oil is sought for hair strengthening, conditioning and reducing frizz. Whilst studies are still in early stages, there are groundswell opinions that point to hair regrowth by stimulating the follicles as well as thickening of the hair shafts.
Rich in tocopherols and tocotrienols (Vitamin E) both with protect against UV radiation and environmental pollution, Batana Oil is also high in Linoleic acid known as an anti-inflammatory.
Try on dry and damaged hair that has been chemically treated (hair dyes and straightening), or on ageing skin to increase collagen production post sun damage.
